Does someone have an answer? Intel 82801ER

Went to install Windows 7 Professional and came up with "Windows cannot be installed to this disk (C). Windows needs the driver for device Intel(R) 82801ER SATA RAID Controller." Click load driver. Have updated driver, called Microsoft, checked internet. This is my third day trying to find an answer. I had run the Windows 7 upgrade advisor and all was find except for printer driver. If anyone has solution would be very greatful.

Microsoft couldn't help you with this problem??

You'll need to have the driver for your RAID controller somewhere on removable media.

    See this: http://www.intel.com/support/chipset.../CS-030152.htm

After 43 minutes on phone, she said I would have to get ahold of Dell. She could not help me. I give you idea a try. Will post what happens. Thanks.

I've had that problem before. The Intel Matrix Storage installer is flawed in that it doesn't allow you to extract the driver unless it detects the hardware. I had to solve it by downloading extractable driver files from the manufacturer and switching BIOS settings. It's annoying to say the least.

    Something else to try:

After you run the Intel matrix installer and get an error, DO NOT close the error message. You might be able to find the drivers in C:\Windows\Temp directory. Copy the drivers to a removable device before you close the error message.

Try running the installer from boot instead of the desktop, unless of course you want an in-place Upgrade.

Call Dell tech support. It has to be their upgrade if MS referred u

I have given up! I am truly dissapointed, was really looking forward to the new OS. I am not without brains, but I do think that Microsoft had not gotten all the important compatabilty feedback that was required and needed. I have always been a big supporter of Microsoft and will probably always be. I have a headache now and am going to settle in the the BB game and a stiff drink. Thanks to those that tried to help.
