I wish I could try this hard drive in a different computer, but I don't have one! I cannot hear the hard drive spinning when I start the computer. The hard drive goes in the laptop smoothly so I assume the sata is connected!

Did you get a HD that is meant for that laptop? If in question provide us a link to the HD and your PC model.
You'll need to get it to be detected in BIOS setup.
I bought a western digital and their customer service representative said it was compatible with any laptop that had windows 7.
And it appears to fit, fits snugly against the contacts which you can see well enough that they line up? Can you adjust the screws to make it fit more snugly?
Try refitting it several times, even holding it firmly against the contacts to see if it will register in BIOS.
It appears to fit snugly, no issues placing it or difficulties when placing it! I have not taken apart the entire computer to see if they all line up perfect!?

It's possible. Do the contacts line up inside the case and appear to engage when you slide it in? Does it fit, lining up with the screw holes?

Yes it is very possible you could have gotten a faulty drive. Ive unfortunately been there myself awhile back. Most hard drive manufacturers have a 1 or if yer lucky; 2 year warranty but some of the better drives have up to 5. So if you know the drive is still in warranty; I would call the maker of the drive and confer with them on what to do. But if its not; if you have a spare drive i would try that; but if not; you unfortunately may have to spend some dollars again and get a new one. Even if it appears everything is connected properly, etc; still things can happen; and the fact that you cant hear or feel it spinning is not a good sign.
Contact the HD manufacturer Tech Support for help to determine if the HD can be made to work, or needs to be RMA'd.
