    Dual boot Windows 7

    Howdy

My friend recently bought a powerful gaming PC. I don't know the specs apart from It has a 250G flash drive as a primary and a 2TB as a secondary drive and 12Gig of ram. The trouble he has is that the primary isn't big enough for all of the games he has.

So the machine came with a OEM windows 7 pr-installed and the supplier threw in a Windows 7 Home premium box and disk with it. Both Windows 7's with different serial numbers.

What my friend tried to do was install the windows home premium onto the TB drive. One of the problems he is now having is the mouse doesn't work on the TB Win 7 drive. We tried a different mouse. Same problem, it worked on the primary drive but not the TB instal. Also the windows desktop is not stretched to the full size of the monitor on the TB install. I told him he should have partitioned the drive first and had a windows partition.

I think he also changed something in the BIOS to make it install??

Can this setup he has work and if so what could he have done wrong?

    Thanks

As the new MOBO's now have a UEFI/BIOS firmware.
How to install Windows 64 bit on a UEFI/BIOS firmware:

Follow these same steps to get and keep a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

Check in BIOS setup to see if you have Legacy or UEFI settings. If UEFI you'll either need to enable Legacy or Compatibility Mode to install normallly, or boot to the UEFI choice for your Win7 media, delete all partitions during install to change the disk formatting to GPT for UEFI install.

Either way, unplug all other HD's during install. I would install to the SSD for best performance. Put your network LAN driver in the backup to get online quickly if the installer doesn't provide it for you, then enable Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3) and run all rounds of Important and Optional Updates, with reboots, until there are no more. This should provide most drivers. Any still missing afterwards can be imported from the Device's Support Downloads webpage. We can help you with this.

Why would you install Windows on the 2 TB drive ? It defeats the whole purpose of having the Solid State Drive.

And he should install the games on the 2 TB drive, you gain nothing by installing them on the SSD.

Make a games folder on the 2 TB drive and install the games there.
