I am trying to install Windows 7 64 bit from XP SP3, and I get to the ready to install page and I get an error that says it needs DVD/CD drive drivers. I could not find any for this and I can't move forward unless I find them. If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated. DH-20A4P-04 is the model number again.

Boot from the Upgrade disk and install to a formatted HDD using Custom>Advance Tools. This is a much cleaner install and seems to often solve the missing optical driver issue.

Greg, should the OP make a partition on the boot hard drive first?

Absolutely. Sorry I used shorthand instead of usual. But I think what you may be getting at is that Brink says in that tutorial to install Upgrade from boot to unallocated space, which was not my experience and something I personally wouldn't do.

I would boot from installer and select Custom>Advanced Tools then delete partitions you don't want, Create new ones as you need, and Format the partition where you wish to install Win7. Be sure to back up your files first on any deleted partitions.

Even if you delete everything and create only one, it is still a partition. Format then install.

Okay, I fixed the problem and installed it. Well I didn't exactly fix the problem though, I had to copy the disk to my hard drive (since I don't have a flash drive) and just run the setup.exe and it installed. I also believe installing the 64 bit Windows 7 over my 32 bit XP was an issue. I instead used a 32 bit over my 32 bit (which I didn't want but whatever, life goes on). Thank you for everyone who helped!

Someone posted they had some problems if they were running software that created virtual drives. Something like Alcohol 120% would cause driver problems.

I know some of the DVD burning software will install virtual drives, so maybe check your device manager and see if there are any strange drives listed. And Alcohol would reinstall the drive if uninstalled so the entire program had to be removed.
