    System Recovery doesn't complete

I have an HP 64bit desktop running Win7. I ran System Recovery from a partition and it ran through the entire first stage fine. THen it restarts windows to go through more setup which runs. fine.

After that, it fails. I see the Windows splash screen, but then the screen goes completely dark. I've tried restarting the PC in safe mode, but it says that system recovery can not be completed in safe mode.

I can't seem to get to a desktop at all. I've rerun SR three times using F11 and always the same result. What should I do?

    Thanks!

Have you tried using the HP Recovery Disk.

       Information
We always assume you have made your Recovery Disks using the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Media Creator app the first day you had your new PC.
& made the Startup Repair CD.

Did you make the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Disks?

Yes. Both from the HD and from back up discs I had made. Always with the same result. I even tried start up repair and it says it can't solve the problem.

I would Check the hard drive with the manufacturer's diagnostic tools.

For posterity, I thought I'd share that it was as simple as wired internet access. Once I brought the computer to the home's router and wired a direct connection, the recovery ran through to completion without issue. I guess the wireless port wasn't ready to work with the system at that stage or it simply wasn't giving me the opportunity to enter a password. But a direct connection allowed it to sail right through. Thanks for the responses.
