What is the make and model of your computer? It would be helpful if you update your system specs.

What I think I'm gunna do is a complete drive wipe, then install XP, and then upgrade to windows 7 again. Just cause I know XP will work :/

Generally, pushing the security down to the hardware level in conjunction with software provides more protection than a software-only solution that is more easily compromised by an attacker. However even where a TPM is used, a key is still vulnerable while a software application that has obtained it from the TPM is using it to perform encryption/decryption operations, as has been illustrated in the case of a cold boot attack[5]."

Maybe this can help... Sounds like hardware and you might need to check with your OEM

Original Equipment Manufacturer - basicaly the vendor or brand of your PC. i.e. Dell, Compaq, IBM

But i'm just working with the TPM description issue co'z it sounds like a hardware problem or maybe there's something wrong with the way the hardware is programed like a software or driver connected to it.

if i remember correctly when i was working for a graphics / printing company our computers had these and they work as "locks or keys" so that the computer can recognize the "Large Format Printers" connected to them
