No that didn't help mate but thanks for the info.......This might be a silly question to some but, i've been asking around in the deepness of the net and i read a part that says a "cd/dvd ( ANY TYPE ) can be crossed flashed to another burner"
I can provide links but i just wondered if i can sort it this way and if you guys had any thoughts on this?

No it's not possible to change firmware on a CD/R drive to make it a DVD/R. The drives that burn CDs and DVD both have 2 extra lasers inside them.
