The Network and Sharing clip you posted is showing the Ethernet connection.

The tech proably changed the SSID in the wireless part of the router.... we'll get to that.

A lot of things I've missed out.... hmm... wired connection is working, that's great news.

Anyway, lets keep our fingers crossed that after all Windows Updates are done that your Wi-Fi connection should also work.

Had a super busy day at work but very productive and will still continue working here at home. I'll keep an eye out on the Thread.

Let me know when the box is up and running again

WU has to finish certain updates with a restart

Reminder: Until he has Optional Updates he doesn't even have the drivers Win7 wants. These were to be the first things installed after the reinstall.

I''d at least check for Updates to see if what's queued.

Download the Realtk 8185 driver here

Since I've been putting this post together, download ONLY - do NOT install yet.
I need a little time to read recent posts

Choose the UI Package and Driver (Support XP/Vista/Win7)

    Thanks Greg,

I'm focused on the connection issue at the moment.

    Wired is done
Wireless is next - there' only a few more things to check/try before Felix the Cat closes his bag of Tricks. (Obscure reference to an old cartoon show)

But we will get to the WU, I promise.
