Can you double an intallation USB you made as a general purpose flash drive?

Would it effect it's function in anyway? Or should you keep your intallation USB "untouched"?

Just don't touch the installer's files in the root of the stick and you can use it as a toolbox or for storage. You'll know which files they are because they are in lower case type.
