Yes, it does. A few hours possibly depending on the size of the HDD.

okay i'll try this again and i will let you know what happens... thanks.
I followed these instructions. When I browse and select the ISO (X17-58997), the Windows 7 USB tool says the file is not valid.

I used PowerISO to see the image properties and i selected the box UDF, saved, and the X17-58997 was able to create the bootable drive on the Win7 usb tool. Could this be a reason why i get the missing driver error message?

Download another ISO and try again. It should be detected without having to do surgery on it.

If it fails again then try using UltraISO Software To Create Bootable USB Flash Drive
which always works.

Have you reinstalled Windows before?

If you had not wiped the HD you could boot into HP diagnostics tapping the ESC key at boot to test your hardware. I would test the HD anyway using the maker's HD Diagnostic
extended scan or Partition Wizard Partition surface test

Does the PC have UEFI BIOS? If so you should see UEFI settings in BIOS setup, such as Legacy BIOS or Compatibility Service Mode (CSM) so boot into BIOS setup via ESC key to check this now, and also confirm your SATA controller mode is set to AHCI.

I can't see the option to verify if the SATA controller mode is set to AHCI. I do have a visual on the UEFI and Legacy Boot Order.

There is option to disable the Legacy Support and that give me an option to change the network boot protocol to IPv4, IPv6, or IPv4+IPv6.

will creating a raid volume do anything?

under the UEFI Device Config
>Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology
>>Intel (R) RST 11.5.9.1723 SATA Driver
>create RAID VOLUME
>>Non-RAID Physical DISKS
>Port 0, 698gb
>Port 1 29gb
