I don't get an option to upgrade to Vista

I was looking thru my old posts, re-read this entire thread and it really irked me how so many people were hell-bent on pushing an agenda even after being given numerous hints to back off.

I stated from the beginning what my intentions were, that I wanted to keep all my programs and settings. Yet still several people kept spreading FUD and seriously didn't get that no means no. I hope none of them got #metoo'd, LMAO.

It has been 10 years so let's do a follow-up: my OS has been functioning perfectly, rarely had issues, I even was able to upgrade-install to 64-bit while keeping 95% of my programs/settings. So there's all the wasted breath on the fearmongering of OS instability.

I'm really surprised I didn't snap at someone, I was probably leery of getting banned for offending some opinionated snowflake so I kept my cool, but considering all the bullshit that entered the mainstream culture since then such as microaggressions, safe spaces and everyone being offended at everything, I wonder how many of those participants would qualify for sanctions nowadays.

Not at all, I completely forgot about this thread until today. The point is that when someone is seeking help for a project, do not answer questions they didn't ask and don't spread FUD. It's condescending and an insult to their intelligence.

I sought to upgrade-install my system but got a barrage of shills trying to convince me to do something else, then Ztruker tried to do the same to the other guy asking for similar tech support in my thread. It's ridiculous. But it all worked out, umad trolls?

Technically upgrading from XP to 7 is not supported. I don't know if it's possible. You have to upgrade to Vista first afaik.

Yeah, you're bringing all that baggage to your clean install, nullifying the "clean" part. Most "recoveries" consist of copy-pasting all your shit to a clean install. That doesn't bring back your installed programs or settings. An upgrade-install does. What I did was the closest possible equivalent to upgrade-installing to a 64-bit system. 95% of everything was identical to the old system. I did a follow-up and reported exactly what had to be manually fixed, which wasn't much.
