Can I use my laptop Windows 7 code elsewhere now I bought Windows 8?

Once again, Win7 is upgraded only using Anytime Upgrade which is merely a Product Key that is inserted to unlock the few extra expensive features (like Language packs) in the higher version. But if you have AU then it cannot be used from Vista or XP - it must have a lower version of Win7.

We are on crossed paths slightly; so I will try one last time.

1) I`m not going to put Vista on my Dynabook (and try the Ultimate update bought in Japan [Which I bought for Windows 7 Japanese (and the Vista is English)]). I have a better alternative. I think. It should be obvious?

2) I have already put an English .iso Windows 7 Home Premium back on my i7 laptop. Its running now. Had to get all the Toshiba drivers/Progs back. Most of them anyway.

3) I can Install the non-OEM DVD version of Windows 8 Pro I bought from Amazon (not OEM), which I can register onto the New i5 PC. It came with 2-discs (32 & 64 bit).

4) Only problem may be that I cannot find a JAPANESE Windows 7 Home Premium (or any version) of the ISO anywhere on Earth. I can find spanish and Italian and Korean versions. But not Japanese.

So,
When I go to Register/Activate the Genuine code on my laptop I get the Microsoft middle finger again. And again. And.... you get the picture for days and ...

Is the problem:-

A) Because the Windows 7 Home Premium Codes was for a Japanese version of Windows 7 Home Premium only?
OR
B) Is it because I have not `De-Registered/De-Activated the Windows 8 Code from the laptop? And Microsoft registration process will not let a new OS register on top of an existing OS (a security measure?)?
OR
C) ???

Ya your partiticular key might only work with Japanese, it`s a region thing.

The closest I can find here is Korean.

No one even slightly suggested you put Vista on any PC, nor would anyone I know suggest such a thing. In fact I specfically showed you how to use XP or Vista as a qualifying OS for Upgrade version (if applicable) without having to install it since some advice given you was unclear on that.
If you reimported "all the Toshiba programs" back into a Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 then it defeated the purpose of doing one since this is meant to get rid all of the bloatware and duplicate factory utilties which interfere with better versions built into Win7. You really don't even have native perfect Win7 until you do the actual Clean Reinstall shown in the tutorial, which discusses whether any OEM software is really required. Did you read it?

Is the touchscreen tablet OS you mention installing going on a touchscreen PC? If not I would stick with Win7 which works best on non-touchscreens.

As Brian says, languages are most often restricted to regional groups, although there are some exceptions. What you might try is pleading your case with MS during activation: How To Activate Windows 7 by Phone Step-by-Step Guide . Let us know what they say, especially about there being no Japanese version available that you can find.

However, I also already tried there.
And it would be a nightmare of a gamble trying to install in Korean; far worse than trying to decipher the Enigma Code.

Thank you for your enduring patience. I really did not want to install my by-passed Vista disc and did not know I would not have to install it and use wishful thinking that the Japanese Ultimate Upgrade would get that English Windows Vista to register and update to Windows 7 Ultimate using some Star Wars Jedi force?

, when the English Version of Windows 7 will not register on the Windows 7 laptop that came with the Japanese version pre-installed.

In response; can I say that the Windows 7 iso does not have and drivers on it beyond the basic set to get the thing booted up in 800x600. No LAN internet, no sound, no nothing.
I downloaded and installed all the Toshiba programs and chipset drivers and can use the laptop on 720p again and get the internet with LAN and wirelessly now. With HD sound.

Touchscreen?
I never mentioned touchscreen. Although my wife can pick bugs off the screen like a frog.

I did suggest what you think Brian thinks.
And you are right; nobody here can find a free downloadable ISO of Windows 7 in Japanese. You would have to be an expert in Kanji to have a hope.
Example (if you are even only `reasonable at speaking Japanese` you still cannot read the following Kanji [and `Alphabet of up to 60,000 `Characters`]).

Win8 is best installed on a touchscreen, and is IMO not a desktop OS at all.

It explains how to handle drivers in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. In fact the portions pertaining to drivers are in bold red type so you wouldn't miss them.

Let us know what MS Phone Activation says. You may need to explain to them fully what you need to do.

Still on the phone with Microsoft who tell me that Toshiba are responsible for the software that Microsoft sell.
But I paid for Microsoft Windows Home Premium, not Toshiba Home Premium. And I register with Microsoft, not Toshiba.
The warranty for the hardware the Microsoft Home Premium on the Toshiba laptop ran out after one year; the onus then reverts to Microsoft for the softare.

So, what the company is doing is a con because Toshiba do not cover warrantly after a year for hardware; and especially not for Microsoft software.

Microsoft send us to toshiba and Toshba send us to Microsoft who send us back to Toshiba.

Now the Microsoft representative keeps telling us that Toshiba is responsible for the licence and they have to provide us with a download, and yet the other day Toshiba told us that Microsoft is responsible for providing us with the download the Microsoft software for our Windows 7 Japanese Home Preminum licence.

We have paid for the licence to use the software; but they both refuse to provide a place to get a download/copy after the HDD hardware with the install has failed after the Toshiba warranty ran out.

Toshiba want $350 for a non-SSD HDD with Windows 7 on it (but I dont want to buy a HDD out of warranty); and Microsoft want $100 or more.

Microsoft Japan customer support said Microsoft do not have to provide what the customer paid for via the licence.

I have a legthy recording.

After a long time of discussing the law on contractual obligations, Microsoft then pretended to not be on the phone; and after a couple of minutes I had not put the phone down they started saying the same Microsoft fraudulent tirade over and over again.
e.g. "Toshiba have to provide you with the Windows 7 software, not Micorosft" etc...

But Toshiba said on the phone that after the warranty runs out, then Microosft is who should provide the Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium part of the software. Toshiba still provide their own part of the Toshiba software and drivers for the hardware parts years after the warranty has run out.

Microsoft Japan just said they don`t provide the Windows 7 Home Premium software the licese pays for. Then they hung up the phone.
