Let's try to keep the focus on what we can help you with and not ancillary issues as annoying as they are.

There is an ISO which will activate with the Product Key on the COA sticker now. What is the exact version listed on that sticker?

You think that it is not activating because it is English while the licensed version is Japanese? This is why you want to obtain an Japanese Home Premium ISO, correct?.
The Sticker on the laptop is windows 7 Home Premium. I says naff-all about if its English or Japnaese. But it is for the Japanese version.
Again `Correct (and `Microsoft Japan Activation by phone` confirmed that in a lengthy roundabout way).

Then we will help you get the Japanese ISO, do a Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 - Windows 7 Help Forums and help you see that it gets activated..
? I will check out the link.

Why do you assume the Anytime Upgrade Product Key will not work once you get Japanese Home Premium on the PC, since that is what you had before when it already worked?.
I didn`t say that. I am prety sure I said that I cannot get the Japanese anytime Upgrade key to work on the English Version of Windows Home Premium either.

Please work with SIW2 to get your ISO compiled and loaded onto a DVD or flash stick. He is my teacher and will not let you fail if you persist..
Trying my best; but .... the headaches make my head spin.

Since Win7 beta we have helped repeatedly in these types of cases and have never come up short if there is cooperation and focus to get it done.
    Incredible patience? or joking around?
    dude,
I can strip a Jaguar V8 and rebuild it and shim the tappets, and I can install a Rover 820 clutch using a tyre jack, a round stick, and 2 adjustable spanners; I can even install house gas plumbing and fit kitches and bathrooms and tile whole rooms and floors, I can install structural steel in walls to hold up load-bearing walls in multi-story brick buildings and fit copper plumbing and heating and wastewater drainage and have installed brickset drives and double glazing, but PC instructions are another league of .
