    Help with asus a53u

Hello my dad has been having problems with his laptop so I said I would have a look at it. Scanned it with malwarebytes and found a lot of stuff and cleared them out. But before I did that I did a sfc /scannow and it found corrupt things and could not repair. So I have tried a few things like repair install with my windows 7 disk I have but that kept just staying on unpacking windows files and saying windows needs to restart but would not restart ever after an hour. Done a reinstall from partition but sfc still is not fixed. Could this be due to a virus all scans show nothing or could it be something a virus has messed with. As I said before I have a windows 7 disk would I be better doing a clean install then get stuff I need of asus web site thanks

You have to run sfc /scannow many times to fix the corrupt files.

If all fails, yes re install windows, get your network drivers before you start.

You'd be better off doing a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 - Windows 7 Help Forums.
Everything needed to get and keep a perfect install is in the blue link. Pay close attention to how drivers are best handled in Win7.

If you want to try to force the repair install, uninstall any AMD software including the Catalyst bloatware, which I would not reinstall - just the display driver delivered by optional Windows Updates or from the PC's Support Downloads webpage.
