    Can't install W7 - Required CD/DVD Device driver missing!

    Help please!
I have a Vista Home premium Acer Travelmate 5720G laptop and am trying to update it to W7 Pro 32 bit with a fresh install using a Microsoft Volume Licensing DVD.
The DVD is read, setup loads and I get as far as the language and keyborad selection screens. After completing the selections and pressing Next I get a Load Driver pop-up - "A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD or USB flash drive, please insert it now. ....."

The DVD drive in the laptop is a HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T20N and I have been unable to locate a suitable driver on the web. I have tried copying parts of the System32 folder from the existing C-Drive to the D Drive and browsingto the CD Rom inf files in the FileRepository folder but without success.

Since the W7 Setup DVD is seen to read the setup files I cannot understand why a driver is suddenly needed after setup has started.

I am even more flummoxed because I have already updated an exactly similar laptop (only the serial number is different) with a different Windows 7 edition - also volume licensing but from a reseller rather than direct from Microsoft VLC (which is now available to our church after registration for the Microsoft Charity Software scheme).

The existing DVD driver is Microsoft 21/06/2006 V 6.0.6002.18005

I would be grateful for some advice please.

    Problem solved!
When I downloaded the W7 ISO from VLSC I had not used the download manager. I decided to download the file again but, this time, with the download manager. This second try completed but the download manager told me that the file was corrupted. I tried again and this time it seemed OK. I then compared the checksums of both the original file and the latest. When I saw thst they differed I msde a new DVD which has installed perfectly.
The moral - ALWAYS USE THE MICROSOFT DOWNLOAD MANAGER!

Good work. Compare the install you're doing with Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7
which compiles what works best to get and keep a perfect Win7 install, even for retail.
