    My Monitor is not showing anything when i press the start button


    after i was trying to upgrade from windows 7 to windows 8 i restarted my computer to try to upgrade it then when i pressed on the start button nothing showed up ( the screen was black ) and i usually get a "beep" when the computer turns on but this time i didnt ( i can hear the fan is on ). And i tried to connect my monitor to another computer to see if the monitor is the problem but it worked. ( im using my laptop to post this )

    Can you describe the beep, was it long or short? was there 2 or even 3 beeps?

    Are you getting BIOS post screen? What happens if you tap the BIOS setup or Boot menu key at startup?

    Can you try another monitor?

    May be caused by defective memory. Try removing 1/2 the memory and see if it will boot. If not, swap the memory and try again. If it boots either time then replace the defective memory SIMM.
