    Win7 64-bit install vs. win7 32-bit install

I will be upgrading the Ram in my PC from 4GB to 8GB in order to install Win7 64-bit OS. I am currently running the Win7 32-bit OS. I purchased the Win 7 Upgrade version a few years back and installed the 32-bit disk without any problems. Will I still be able to use / install the Win7 64-bit using the Upgrade disk? I have attached my PC specs. Will it make a difference if I install the additional 2 sticks of Ram before or after I install the 64-bit OS?

    Appreciate all assistance rendered. Cheers!

Sure it will, by having much more opened programs at once. Your computer won't break a sweat :)

The install should go just fine, see: Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version

You can wait till the 64 bit is installed or not to add the RAM, the 32 bit OS won't see more than about 3.5GB though.

Roastermen and Britton30, appreciate the quick replies. Thank you and tomorrow will be upgrade day! Am fully retired now and have time to enjoy an adult beverage...that time seems to have come right now!

Good luck with it buddy. I forgot to welcome you to Seven Forums, so Welcome.

Use the adult beverage after the upgrade, alcohol can make you think you are smarter.

If the upgrade disc is for 32 bit only then no, you can`t use it to install 64 bit.

Did it come with both 32 bit and 64 bit discs ?

One genuine w7 key will legally activate either a 32 or 64 bit install at one time. If you need a 64 bit installer see this: https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1649-clean-install-windows-7-a.html#post16008 Under the "Here's How" section, the first Note box. The upgrade key can be used with those w7 .iso files for the edition your key is for.
