Bitlocker is used to encrypt your drive, DON`T use it, you`ll be sorry

    And what is gone ?

thanks for the reply ha ha yes don't want to encrypt my boot file so that's Bitlocker out of the solution ps only added that because "boot" didn't have the minimum characters for thread name

nothing is gone now, I replaced, but I find it all too easy for win 7 to loose its boot file at the drop of a hat why is this?, and is there anything I can do? to make it more rebust like moving it to the same partition as windows

So it seems my boot file is on the drive with windows ? or am I ready the screen grab below wrong ?

I've been trying to dual boot Linux mint but always deletes win 7 boot loader I'm beginning to think this is because win 8.1 is present in my dual boot, 8.1 always seems to survive and I have a battle in command prompt to get win seven back 4 times now ? plus when this happens I cant find any drives with back ups on ... seriously thinking of ditching win 8.1

Unplug all other HD's except Win7, run Startup Repair - Run 3 Separate Times
    to repair the Win7 bootloader.

With separate HD's its easiest to unplug all other HD's during your Linux or other installs, then boot the preferred OS via the BIOS Boot order priority or One-Time Boot menu.

If this is not satisfactory after you try it, follow this post which works well to Dual boot Ubuntu-Win7

I unplugged all HD's to install Linux and work fine ....... but catching a delete button on my P5Q every time I turn on or restart is not a solution too much hassle

there is a way to boot Linux and win 7

but i think because I got win 8.1 also in my dual boot, Linux just wipes my boot drive nothing works

I do have win 7 ultimate as the default in easy BCD 2.2 with win 8.1 as a choose at start up

I even tried to add Linux to this mix by usb pendrive programs but same result win seven boot loader gets burned ?

    what's one-time boot loading ?

maybe i'm not seeing it ???

but I currently have both win 7 and win 8.1 in a dual boot and I don't think this mix agrees with Linux mint 16 the new one

or more likely win 8.1 don't like win 7 or Linux
