    New Build

Hi all currently running a PQ5 Pro MB with a Intel Pentium D 3.00GHz, but thinking of upgrading, want to upgrade as future proof as I can afford leaning towards Intel board

been looking at a MSI MPower Max board with a i7 processor any thoughts, do u have this board ? are there any similar boards I not looked up yet ? should look at ?

Look at what your Doing not what the Board looks like, IE: Gaming go for a bigger faster board. Word n internet go for a lower powered board. But I will say 1 thing. Get a SSD and a quad core. I am still Running a 775 Q8200 on 4gb DDR3 and I have no trouble...

If you are upgrading to a recent Intel processor, you will need to replace the RAM and go with DDR3.

Most people get more bang for the buck out of an upper level i5 rather than an i7, but you might be an exception if your applications can take advantage of hyper-threading and if budget is not a major concern.

I'd choose the board based on required features and whether or not you have any intention of overclocking. Do you intend to overclock?

    What's "BM"?

Much more info needed--budget, intended tasks, required features, where you intend to buy, etc.

Do you intend to replace just these 3 parts: CPU, RAM, motherboard?

    Do you intend to overclock?

Much more info needed---required features on the motherboard (such as number of ports), most common tasks for the computer, most stressful task anticipated, most often used programs, etc.

A link to your chosen vendor and a budget would help.

Is your current Windows license a retail version or an OEM version or?
