You can check the product validity using this.

And make sure you change the Product Type to Windows 7.

That's just the first wave, since this is a pre service pack disc you will have quite a few and then you'll get service pack 1, then another wave.

    In other words just relax...

Did you miss where I said earlier to use the latest installer provided if yours doesn't have SP1?

Keep doing Updates until it offers SP1.

Are you using correct key from COA sticker? B looks like 8. Rejection is always due to incorrect character if you installed the correct version.

Yes , I saw, but I am more comfortable doing it this way . The way I've always done it ... I'm in no hurry but its getting late here in the uk ,, might have to leave it on and go sleep .....

Yes but you are doing a diagnostic install to determine where it begins failing to shutdown. So you need to follow the steps given and not habit.

When prompted for reboot for Updates, try Shutdown instead to see if it shuts down. You can wait til tomorrow to start it up again.

Well , it's just finished installing the service pack and its now configuring , 1 of 3 . I clicked restart when prompted and its showing the blue screen like before, and says shutting down in the middle of the screen but its NOT shutting down ???
