If necessary boot into the Win7 installation media's System Recovery Options to System Restore before the Update was installed. Then try one more time installing updates singly to see if it will take. If not you said you already have the Toshiba cam driver, correct?

That Authen tech driver is for your fingerprint reader. It may also include Facial Recognition driver. Do you actually use either of those? When you attempt to use them normally now, what exactly happens?

I think the webcam is missing a fuller software package. But again, this is not needed except to see yourself so most users are satisfied with the simple driver that allows using the webcam in every way it is normally used online. How do you use your webcam? Try using it that way now. It likely works with the rudimentary driver provided by Updates (try that first) or Toshiba.

If you want the full software package then we can research the WIn7 driver from it's actual manufacturer, by googling the name and model number + WIn7 software. If it doesn' take you to the driver itself, it often will find a help thread for someone who has been in your position. I've never not been able to find the software, although in the rarest cases it may not work without being run or extracted from Toshiba Recovery image, depending upon how Toshiba modifies it.

The Facial Recognition Software is available when you select Vista 64 bit in the dropdown.

This normally means there is no newer Windows 7 driver, but Vista drivers should work for Win7. Then you'll need to see if it has enough of the software, or if more must come from the Recovery disks or be further searched.

You can put your Recovery disks in the drive and browse them in Explorer to see if there is an Applications folder. We can help you browse if you post back a screenshot of their contents.

According to this thread found in a search, there is a folder on Vista drive (which would have been your old Vista C drive) named TOPASINS which contains all applications for reinstall. Do you have an old image of your Vista C drive other than the Recovery disks?

HI THERe, i do not have vista recovery discs. vista was pre installed on the laptop wen i bought it. in 32 bit. i only have toshiba recovery discs x2 and the windows 7 ultimate box with the 32 bit and 64 bit discs. i looked in device manager and opened everything. there is no facial recognition driver ? it did used to be under toshiba - utilities when clicking on start and then all programs before.

If the PC came with Vista then the 2 Recovery disks you have would reinstall Vista with all of the Toshiba crapware. It may also be in a folder on one of those disks to browse and access. We can help you see.

Facial Recognition would need to have a driver installed in Device Manager which would be in error now if it wasn't installed. So it likely has its driver which may be named something else. It may need more software in addition to the driver to function fully though.

Did you download and try to install the Vista Face Recognition Driver I found for you above? Does it restore the function enough?
