Easy Transfer Too Advanced Option

Hi Everybody.

Ive looked thru many threads here about Easy Transfer Tool and i didnt see my question anywhere..... I just finally done away with Windows XP and used the easy transfer tool to store my user accounts to be put back on the new Windows 7 system... Now that i have installed most of my programs and set my settings, ive decided that i dont want to move all of the user account stuff to my new windows 7 machine

My Question is, (can i use the Easy transfer Tool "advance option" when i connect it to the new windows 7 and only transfer my photos, music and internet explorer favorites from the user accounts).... I dont want my settings affected in anyway..... Ive created a restore point so i could go back to it just in case something went wrong but wanted some advice before i connected the easy transfer up to the new windows 7...

You say "photos, music, and Internet Explorer favorites".

You don't need Easy Transfer to move that stuff around. I'd think it would be an unnecessary complication for that purpose.

Are you locked into Easy Transfer and no longer have direct access to the original copies or backups of those 3 things?

Unfortunately, after I saved the files using the East Transfer Tool, i have already formatted the drive and loaded windows 7 and all the programs that i wanted back on the computer.... Originally i was just gone move the user profile over but decided i didnt really need my old settings but i do want the things i mentioned.... It does have a advance option that i know you can use when you save the files from the old computer but im not sure you can use it connecting to the new computer.... I am coming from XP 32 bit to & 64 bit.... I know i can just reinstall again if things go wrong but i really dont want to go that route if i dont have too

If I understand you correctly, you have no choice but to try to use Easy Transfer because the photos, music, and favorites that you need exist nowhere else but within Easy Transfer. You have no other source, original, or backup.

In that case, good luck. I quit using that tool after one attempt shortly after it was introduced and it failed badly.

I have no idea about the "advanced options", but if it is the only game in town, I guess you have to make do with it and hope.

Maybe someone else has experience with it. There are tutorials on this site about Easy Transfer, but I don't know if they cover advanced options.
