The Windows 8 installer opens up 2 tabs in my browser

When I get to the part in the Windows 8 installer that it tells me what needs to come to my attention, instead of opening a little browser inside of the program as I guess it's trying to do, it opens up 2 tabs in whatever browser is my default. This would be fine if the buttons in the web pages still modified the actual installer, but they don't and therefore the installer is effectively stopped.
    Here's what it looks like:

I read on another thread that making IE the default would fix it, but I tried that and it did not work.

I realize that a Windows 7 support forum might not be the best place for this, but I figured I would ask here first because I'm trying to updated from Windows 7.

Have you tried removing MSE like it suggested?

Yes, I did that yesterday, but it still had the other message.

    I don't know why it's back. I guess I'll remove it again.

Yeah, that just wants you to confirm you know that you will have to reinstall your other languages, if you click confirm does the install proceed?

No, all of the browsers (including IE) don't seem to communicate with the program; If I click a button in any of them, the install just sits there.

Just to confirm, is this the method below you are using??

Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant - Download and Run

What happened after you clicked confirm? Can you just close that window then hit refresh in the other?

I burned a Windows 8 disc, and ran it while Windows 7 was up.

When I click confirm nothing happens.

If I click refresh in the program, it just opens up 1 or 2 more tabs with that data in it.

So you are doing an upgrade install from the win 7 desktop?

Are you following the steps in option four here?

Upgrade Install to Windows 8 or Windows 8.1

I have booted it, but I would much rather keep all of my programs if at all possible so I really would like to do an upgrade.

Yeah, I was considering registering and starting a thread there now.
