    Installing Win 7 over Windows 8.1


    G'day,

    Some time ago a bought a laptop that came with Win 7 installed. I then went ahead and bought the update to Windows 8 and then updated to 8.1. After six months or so I have decided that I would rather use Win 7. My question is; can I just insert the Win 7 installation disc and start over from scratch? I do not care what happens to anything that is currently running in Windows 8.1, I have backups, etc., but I don't want to ruin the machine. Any advice would be very welcome. Thanks up front.

    Yes, make sure you have the latest official Win7 installer with SP1 provided in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 then follow those steps to get and keep a perfect install. During the booted install delete all partitions to get it cleanest. The tutorial will help you prepare so you don't leave anything behind.
