Ken -
Yes, using a known good disk is best. Try booting it in another PC to see if it will load and detect the hard drives before bailing out. It could have gotten scratched or smudged. So if in doubt create another for the licensed version from Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. If then the DVD errors again try the flash stick option. If that fails, reboot into BIOS setup to look at the settings for UEFI, CSM, Legacy BIOS, and the BIOS boot order. Take pictures of these with their choices expanded, or type out what the settings choices are and what is now selected. It's easiest to select CSM or Legacy BIOS to avoid UEFI which can cause problems and has few benefits. Then you don't need to worry about booting the disk as a UEFI disk. Solved!
I had a family member give him one of my w7 install disks. The install worked flawlessly. He had received a bad disk from his retail outlet. Thanks! Ken |
