    C,D = 1st HDD
    E = 2nd HDD
    F=DVD-ROM (??)
    G = External HDD

    So if the missing HDD exist it will be F and your DVD ROM will be G and External HDD H.

    I feel this missing HDD somehow might have gotten dismounted or 'ejected'?

    Do I gather that we are talking about an external disk. If yes, it is most likely a driver problem. As an easy exercises, unplug and then replug the USB cable. Maybe the system finds the driver. If that does not work, go to the manufacturers website and see whether you can download and install the proper driver. During driver installation I would keep the disk unplugged.

    What is your SATA setting in BIOS?
    IDE, SATA, RAID or ?

    Check Device Manager and see what is listed for the Storage Controller.

    Right click the controller listed under 'Storage Controller', check the Driver tab get the version, then the Resources tab and see if there are any conflicts.

    Let us know what you find.
