    Error 0xc00000e9 after every installation

Ok I am fixing up my freinds Toshiba E-1200 laptop. it had windoes 8 on it. the recovery didn't work at all same error poped up. so I deelted every partiton formatted started form scratch to install windows 8

Installed windows 8 it was done perfect, went to install anti virus as soon as the reboot took place

the old Error Oxcoooooe9 come sup

so I figure lets formate again and install windows. 7 exactly the same thing happened. installed perfect next reboot the same error.

I can't work out what it is it's supposet o mean some hardware error but the HD is fine oviously if I can install a operation system. it's when a reboot happens the error comes up.

Has anyone got any ideas what it could be?? I just about give up the frustrating part is NOT knowing what the problem is it can't be windows 7 or 8 it has to be some Hardware issue during booting.

Have you done any testing on the drive itself?

I once had an HDD that appeared fine and I didn't suspect a hardware issue at first because I was only getting non-descript errors in the OS. It turned out it was physical errors on the drive.

If you've not done any disk testing, try burning yourself a Hiren CD and running one of the disk testing utilities (like teskdisk) to see how healthy it is.

    :)

Error Oxcoooooe9 generally means an unexpected I/O error has been occurred. This generally means an issue with the hard drive. I would suggest testing your hard drive with "Seagate Seatool".

    1. Make sure SATA mode is set to IDE in BIOS setup. Otherwise DOS based tools won't see your HDD.

    2. Download and burn Seatool for DOS from the below link.

    SeaTools for DOS | Seagate

    3. Boot from the disc and perform a "Long Test".

Let us know whether the test is a PASS or FAIL.

Thanks for this I will give it a go and report back.

yesterday installed windoes 7. was going fine even rebooted for anti virus. then it randomly shutdown went to do a disk repair got stuck at 68% left it there overnight and it had not moved.. rebooted this morning now just sits at the logo.

so it has to be something with the Hardware that's randomly causing this problem.

how long is the long test suppose to take? its 320g HD its been 3 hours so far and the progess still just says testing. is it suppose to have a % done? the bar isn't moving?

EDIT short test does same thing doesn't seem to progess just says testing the % bar won't move ever so it isn't working

hort test does same thing doesn't seem to progress just says testing the % bar won't move ever so it isn't working
Usually this indicates a disk failure. Try removing the disk and reconnecting. If the test behaves similarly, upload SMART log of the HDD by following DISKPART clean performed accidently. how to recover data?

I asked to attach the text file with the reply - not pasting the output as it will ruin the format. Anyway the SMART data clearly indicates the disk is failing.

    197 Current_Pending_Sector 0x0022 072 072 000 Old_age Always - 868
However, please perform an additional test.

Open "GasmartControl" and navigate to the "Perform Tests" tab. Select "Long Test" and press "Execute" button.

After the test completes, let us know whether it is a pass or fail. Also save "Attributes" log and "Self Test Log" and attach them with next reply.
