Cant get the hdd out haha, I'm missing something I cant get my hands behind it and not yanking at it, its on a mount tray, does it need unscrewing? (I didnt put it togethet myself) - sorry for noob questions
You don't need to unscrew anything.
If this is a normal desktop PC, you will see 2 cables connected to the drive.
Disconnect those cables from the drive after noting where and how they connect to it.
Okay done, windows 7 ultimate boots no problem in ssd (resolution is awful but il fix that)
now then how do I fix the hdd side of things?
You reconnect the HDD and reboot and then reformat the HDD from Windows Disk Management.
But first, I'd recommend you post a screen shot of Windows Disk Management after you reconnect the HDD and BEFORE you re-format it.
I'm not clear on why you got a startup repair message when attempting to boot from the SSD less than an hour ago----and now you don't get that message.
Okay rebooted pc with HDD connected and no problem, booted off the ssd and all is fine (it wont show my files but that's fine)
How do I wipe the hdd then so it has nothing? disk management and then
not too sure but all fine now, in disk management now (sat with my dad who's a software analyst)
So I need to remove partition then I can start from scratch with everything I need/want
Christa1994. as ignatzatsonic mentioned in an earlier post, it would be best to get Windows 7 all set up & running properly on your SSD before you reformat the HDD.
Once you get the screen resolution correct, you need to download all the Updates for Windows 7. This usually takes a while, so be patient.
When everything has been done & all is working properly then reformat the HDD.
So all sorted, my dad has done it all and it boots fine and no problem at all
except my drivers, I cant seem to find them which is odd -- is it easier to made a.system restore disk to get them?
Nearly all drivers are installed by Windows from the Windows installation disk.
Where were you expecting to find them?
What functionality is missing? Do you have any exclamation points in Device Manager?
You may have some odd hardware that requires a driver not supplied by Windows, but that's not the usual situation. The motherboard manufacturer is a standard source, but usually not needed because Windows has the vast majority of drivers.
