OK, guys, Win 7 installed! DO NOT ask what I did to effect this happy conclusion. When I thought I would be given choices on clicking an option in BIOS, clicking on it actually activated it and took over. Now, should I just reconnect my data drive, restart, and hope it recognizes it?

OR, should I connect the pc to the internet, download all the updates to date, and THEN connect that drive? Will do nothing until I get a go-ahead. Gee! I might be getting back to normal?

Enable Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3) then Check for Updates, select all Important and Optional except Bing, install updates.

When it requests reboot to install Updates, SHut Down to plug in other drive. If it doesn't show up then in Disk Mgmt give it a drive letter.

Keep Checking For Updates as you are setting everything up until there are no more offered, monitoring performance to see if anything changes as a result of what you are doing.

Other tips to set up and maintain a perfect install are the same as for Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 based on tens of thousands of installs we've helped with here since beta.

Apparently the Boot priority choices alone determine UEFI or Legacy for this mobo.

So as not to leave you hanging, I am now installing my router software so I can access Internet to start downloading updates. And this will take awhile.....

Router software is never needed and just adds crapware on top of Win7's superior network connection.

You only need to connect to your wireless network in bottom right System Tray or plug in the Ethernet cable. The wireless adapter will show five bars when it's ready to click to Connect to a Network, the Ethernet cable will show a TV screen. If either have a red-X then they need a driver.

If no networks are found or cable doesn't connect then make sure you have the network driver installed in Device Manager. You can find the driver on the Support Downloads webpage for your model Ethernet or wireless adapter. Download and rightclick to Run as Administrator.

It might be useful to post a screen shot that shows what BIOS has in Boot Option #1, Boot Option #2, and Boot Option #3 (see the image from post# 20 for a reference)

I noticed that there is a slider, but I don't know if it is related to the field or to the BIOS page.

When you post the screen cap - see what is offered by moving the slider - if there is more than what was shown before, post as much information as you can. That might take a few screen shots to show the all of the drives on each Boot option.

Complete information will help members understand the way your machine is configured and give them more details to answer any questions.

    Thanks,

    Bill

Actually, no. It isn't certain that merely selecting Legacy stick listing to boot is all that's required to install Legacy. The screenshots of Advanced BIOS tab were never provided after 10 requests in spite of last promise to get them after finally realizing what BIOS tabs are.

Instead OP messed with settings and stumbled upon a Legacy install with zero help provided to others who might need it. Advanced BIOS tab was never seen. Someone with this exact BIOS who is cooperative and thorough may some day supply it.
