Win 7 install on new MSI GX70

I've had this laptop for a couple of days and I'm fed up with Win 8.1. Therefore I've installed a formatted 960 gb ssd, and I'd like to install win 7 64bit. I've disabled the secure boot option, which was causing problems, and I've set it to boot from the optical drive as the first option. I've restarted the pc, pressed a key to boot from the dvd, and copied over the files. The "starting windows" screen opens, with the glowing window icon, and that's as far as it gets. The icon is shifting around a bit, but there is no other sign of progress.

In BIOS what are the settings for CSM, Legacy BIOS or Legacy Boot? How about the Boot order priority?

Are you booting the installation media as a UEFI device, if you want to install to UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) - Install Windows 7 with - Windows 7 Forums? How?
