My windows 7 installation stops at the windows logo screen

    Hello,
I am using a Dell Inspiron N4030 laptop. I installed Ubuntu 13.04 on this laptop and now I am trying to shift to windows 7. I had previously used windows 7 on this same laptop. But during installation of windows 7 this time it always gets stuck at the windows logo screen. I have tried using DVD as well as bootable USB drive, both with same unsuccessful result.
I will really appreciate the help.

I followed the steps as mentioned. I restored the BIOS settings to default, set SATA controller to AHCI and Hard Drive to first boot. Then I tried installing from a windows 7 DVD. It says press any key.... then there is the screen for "Windows is loading files" and after that there is screen for windows with a scroller in below but that screen dissappears in 1sec and then a blank screen appears and it remains this way for as long as I let it be. I tried pressing shift+F10 but it doesnt respond.

    Try the below steps.

    1. Download "Partition Wizard" boot disc from Partition Wizard Bootable CD allows user to manage partition directly with partition manager bootable CD.

    2. Boot from the disc and use "Wipe Disk" option to quickly fill the disk with zeros.

How to Wipe Disk with partition magic? Partition Wizard Wipe Disk Video Help.

This will covert the disk in to "uninitialized" state. Now boot from the install disc and report whether it stalls on the logo screen.

This is why it gives you another way to enter System Recovery Options to get to the Command Prompt for Diskpart commands.

    6. At first installer screen Press Shift + F10, or enter System Recovery Options to open a Command Box
Inattentiveness to detail is anathema for troubleshooting.

Try another disk from Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 or confirm whether the current media is bootable in another PC.

In that case reset the BIOS to defaults: Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS

If disk still will not boot, try flash stick installer provided in steps 1 and 2 of Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. Set Hard Drive to boot first in BIOS setup, then trigger the stick to boot from one-time BIOS Boot Menu key.

Most failures to boot are user failures. Try setting the hard drive to boot first in BIOS setup, then trigger DVD using one-time BIOS boot Menu key. Does it show DVD drive to choose to boot? When you choose it does it prompt to "Press any key to boot disk?" What exactly happens then? Can you hear the disk drive running? It may be bad.
