Windows 7: Dual Boot screen with only one OS

Dual Boot screen with only one OS

Hi all

This has been odd for me but I get the dual boot screen when I start up my computer for the last few days. I have tried to turn off this screen using msconfig and Boot tab and also tried to turn it off system properties -> advanced -> startup and recovery -> settings but after I apply the settings the dual boot screen comes back at startup.

system startup settings are:
Default OS: Windows 7 (only)
Time to display list of operating systems (unchecked)
Time to display recovery options when needed (unchecked)

I have also searched google and checked other similar problems nothing seems to work here. Only changes made to the system in last month were trying to solve this problem and updates. The inside of the computer was chassis was cleaned out just before this problem was noticed.

Any help on this?

Windows 7 (My Idea)

Try putting a value in the unchecked items and then check them, 15 seconds for OS choice, 30 seconds for recovery screen.

What choices does the boot screen give exactly?

Install EasyBCD (click Download - no Name or Email required) post back using Snipping Tool a screenshot of the listings page, attaching file using paper clip icon in reply box.

Fixed Using EasyBCD I just checked skip boot screen at start up. New problem came up though, I got a windows failed to start screen along with two options start normally or detect problems. Could be hardware or software. Since I just clean out inside the chassis and removed gfx card i think i should try a re seat of the card to try correct the problem

Let us look at a screenshot of your Disk Management - Post a Screen Capture Image.

Was there another OS on the system at any time in the past, which might have not been reinstalled to the same partition or may still have its boot partition on one of the drives?

Run a couple of Startup Repairs to see if it finds anything to fix. There is no risk.

Are there any other performance problems? If not you can leave it alone unless you want to renew your boot sector:

If you want to back up your files and a System image you could try the Bootsect commands given for exporting the BCD to rewrite it in Use Bootrec.exe in the Windows RE to troubleshoot startup issues.

I would also run the bootrec commands first to see if they repair anything.
