    Installing Windows 7 Home Premium


    Hey guys,
    Can someone help me? Do I need to backup my files before installing Windows 7 Home Premium when I'm already using Windows 7 Home Basic?

    Backup files is always a good thing to do. But not really needed in this case.

    Ohh. But if I am installing from a DVD, do I need to perform back up?

    Yes, backup all your data.

    Put your data on a flash drive, dvd`s, external hard drive. Whatever you have.

    If you read the blue link Kaktussoft gave you it isn't necessary to reinstall you can just unlock the few extra features in Home Premium by inserting the Product Key into Anytime Upgrade.

    But if you want to do a clean install then follow these same steps which include how to back up everything first so nothing is forgotten, how to get and keep a perfect install: Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

    If you documents are on a separate partition from your OS, then just make an image of the partition with
    Macrium Reflect FREE Edition - Information and download It is a free download and works great.

    You`ll have to let us know exactly what your intentions are and exactly what you want to do.

    Windows Anytime Upgrade
    In place Upgrade

    or

    A Clean Install

    It`s best that you backup your data no matter what you do
