i reinstalled win 7 with disc which i was provided with my lappy=>Was that a normal win7 install DVD? Or a restore to factory settings DVD?

Post screenshot of disk management please.

SYSTEM RECOVERY OPTION: Are you refering to this?

Once you do a Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 the Recovery partition will not run again unless you add it to a Dual Boot menu from within the OS to Boot Recovery Partition using EasyBCD

If you're satisfied with the Clean Reinstall then I'd forget the Recovery and delete its partition. But if the Dell Diagnostics will run from F12 key at boot then I'd keep the small OEM partition which houses it. Try also the Utility Partition listing if it appears on F12 as it is an even fuller Diagnostics suite which are valuable tests to keep onboard and bootable.

Post a screenshot of Disk Management - Post a Screen Capture Image.

Looks like you did a Clean Reinstall with Dell's Reinstallation DVD. This makes the Recovery unbootable except by the method I gave you earlier.

But you have a superior installation to Factory Recovery if you followed Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. Compare the one you did to that one in the blue link. You might want to do it over. Be sure to read the SPecial Note for Dell Owners at the end.

Is there some reason you cannot write in full English sentences? We're not interested in interpreting lazy text-speak here.

I just told you that doing a Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 is a superior install so you should look over the steps in the blue link to see if you did anything similar to that.

Why do you need to run Factory Recovery.

Normally Factory Recovery no longer works after doing a Clean Reinstall but you can still add the Recovery Partition to a Dual Boot using the method I gave you in Post #3, then boot it to run Recovery.

Why are you looking in RECOVERY partition?
Do you really have a look there? You want to add "reset to factory defaults" to current boot menu? If so:

    In Elevated Command Prompt
    Code:
    dir p:\ /s /a>%userprofile%\desktop\p.txt
A file p.txt appears on desktop. Post that file.

    In Elevated Command Prompt
    Code:

    dir/a P:\Recovery\WindowsRE\winre.wim
    file exists?
