How do I clean install widows with no dvd or usb stick.

    Hi

I am helping a friend with their pc, their Windows 7 install, on there system drive is badly mangled and need of a reinstall, however they has no DVD drive or spots for a usb key, or or the knowledge to create one. I do not have phsical access to there pc due to different geological locations. I am wondering if there is a way I can help them reinstall 7 cleanly, they has two drives, main and a data drive. i did look at this Install Windows 7 FAST without a DVD or USB device but if something goes wrong, there is no way for me to fix it and they stuck with no os. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Just what kind of computer is this that has no method of hooking up external hardware or the use of a DVD?

You could download the .iso and then work with a Virtual Clone Drive. But in my book that is more complicated than burning the .iso to a USB flash drive - e.g. with Rufus.

I would be amazed if the PC of your friends had no USB port. There are PCs without CD drives but I have never seen one without a USB port.

Everything needed is provided here in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 including the reinstallation media, everything that must be remembered to back up, how to do and keep a perfect install.

    Thanks guys

They do have usb ports, but I not sure how many are free, and there knowledge is very limited when it comes to computers, I think USB would be the best way to go myself, it is a custom built PC. I'm not sure on the specs but I will find out. I was just wondering if they is a way to reinstall without them having to many hoops to jump through.

Read over the tutorial a few times taking notes for questions to ask back.

Much of it is to be sure nothing needed is left behind

For an installation, you can free all USB ports - just pull the plugs. There is no need to have a printer or any other device attached during an installation.
