    how to change C drive?

I just purchased a SSD and would like to make it the new C drive and install windows 8 on it, how do I change from the old C drive to the new one?

Also, I'm trying to find out the cd key of my currently installed windows 7 with "magic jelly bean keyfinder" but it shows the cd key as BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBB, it only shows the product ID, whys this?

Why in God`s name do you want to install Windows 8 But seriously.....

Unplug the hard drive before you install Windows 8 on the ssd, then reconnect it and use the bios to choose which one you want to boot from.

Don`t you have a COA with your key on it ?

Speccy will show you the key.

    Please perform the following:

    1. Download and save this tool to your desktop:

    2. Run the tool, and then click Copy - ignore any errors if they appear

    3. Use CTRL+V to paste the unedited results of the tool here in your next reply

If you paid MS for your Windows 7 online, you have a email from MS store which is your COA.

You can use the WIn7 license which came with the laptop so it isn't wasted and your retail copy can go elsewhere. The key is on the COA sticker on bottom as pictured earlier.

Otherwise if you only have a retail copy then the key is on an insert in the folder Win7 came with, which should be preserved like any other valuable.

If you don't have the key and bought a retail copy of Win7 then it should be readable by a keyfinder like those suggested. I'd want two confirmations of the key, so also try Belarc Advisor - Free Personal PC Audit, for software, hardware and security configuration information on your computer. Software license management, IT asset management, cyber security audits, and more..

When you install Win7 to the laptop, be sure to boot the installation media so you can delete all partitions on there now using the Drive Options pictured in Steps 7 and 8 of Clean Install Windows 7. If you have Upgrade version the installer will see a prior OS to allow use of the Upgrade Key during install, otherwise leave it blank and afterwards do the Option 3 workaround in Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version.

There are many other tips, tools and methods in this tutorial for Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 which includes the latest installation media for your licensed version and tool to burn to DVD or flash stick. You'll get and keep a perfect install to the exact extent you stick with those steps.
