Windows Setup Could not Configure Windows on this computer's hardware

Yesterday, after Windows 7 updated and restarted I could no longer boot into Windows 7. I tried start repair several times, no luck. So I got out the recovery DVD's that I made when I purchased the laptop. Did what the directions told me to do and I received this message. I tried rebooting but no luck. What do I do next? I am also wondering if the Windows Update may have corrupted my BIOS or something. The laptop has had no problems for almost two years. It was running perfectly. The laptop works fine with my Mint Linux USB. Thanks for your help.

You could first try this: Windows setup could not configure to run on this computer's hardware [Solved] - Configuration - Windows 7

I don't know what it does but it seem to work for several users.

If this is a failure during the actual Factory Recovery and the above solution doesn't help then try wiping the HD using Diskpart Clean Command from the DVD or Repair CD Command Line, then try the Recovery disks again.

If the problem persists try entering Device Manager during install to disable any erroring Devices: Device Manager - Access During Windows 7 Installation

Instead of Factory Recovery you'll get a much better install doing a Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7Everything needed including the installation media for your licensed version is in the blue link.
