Windows 7: Windows Installer Errors: 1500

Windows Installer Errors: 1500

Hey guys, so i'm in the process of trying to install Java update 67 on my Windows 7 PRO PC, and I'm running into an issue.

In the Java install process, the progress bar sits empty. This is running the offline installer.

When trying to install using the Java installer, I get the 1500 error "Installation in Progress"

I've been through probably hours of research and not come up with a single helpful thread. I've done the obvious restart of the installer service (obviously restart the OS as well) and even searched the registry for the key relating to in progress installations that many have recommended clearing, however I don't have any keys showing up in registry where other people seem to be finding them.

Where do I start? Seems to be a 'fairly' common issue over the years, I just can't seem to get the dang thing working again. I've spent the last 2 hours working on this.

Additional info:

I seem to have 'msiexec.exe' running 3 times. One instance shows up under 'System' in ALL USERS in the task manager. The other two show up simultaneously after running the Java update.

When trying to 'kill' the System process, i get 'The Windows Installer service could not be accessed' on a prompt. I can kill the other two processes, but they both restart when running the Java install.

Something tells me that is most likely the issue that needs to be resolved.

Have you tried Java Uninstall Tool ?

Try installing from the Built-in Administrator Account - Enable or Disable which will confirm if it's your User account blocking it.
