    Wrong OEM disk

I have a spare Acer Win 7 laptop without a HD, so installed an HP with a different operating system (8). This did not boot so I took out my Dell OEM 7 and install went through, but there are multiple issues such as no network driver, no internet access, drives do not work for download..
OK, it was a hard lesson to learn in using a proprietary OS disk, but I was trying to learn some more computing...
What can be done since I burned a bootable Win7 from Softlay, but as stated, the cd drive will not open files. I tried DOS partitioning, but will not format existing system.
    Thanks in advance.

You need to contact Acer and obtain/purchase recovery media for your actual model of laptop,

As the Softlay disks are not sanctioned by Microsoft you cannot say what they will do to your system. They say on their site that they are MSDN discs, As these are not available to the general public you have to consider how genuine they are
