Which license i need to use to reinstall Windows 7 on a Notebook?

    Hi there,

my friend asked me to restore his laptop so after work i went to his home to do it and when i arrived he noticed me that another friend installed from scrath Windows XP and he deleted the restore partition and has a illegal copy of Windows...

As i found this forum i read a thread with guide to create a bootable USB and that thread gives links to download Windows 7 with SP1. I get the OS and the software needed to create a bootable USB.

Now i need to know which license i need to activate Windows. His laptop has a license on the battery bay but it says Windows 7 Starter SNPC OA HP and i don't know if i can use it with the OS that i downloaded from this forum.

You need to install Windows 7 Starter.

You may not find a legal download site for Windows 7 Starter

Follow the steps for doing a Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

Step 1 provides the installer and explains in a bullet point how to unlock Starter version.

You will get and keep a perfect install to the exact extent you stick with the tools and methods in the tutorial, just like a million others have done without a single complaint.
