    7 upgrade stalling problem

    Hey all,
I tried upgrading vista ultimate 64 to 7 ultimate 64... the upgrade got about 2/3rds of the way through to the 'Transferring files, settings, and programs ...' step and has now been stuck there for about 3 hours.

    What can I do?
    What should I do?

    I appreciate all help..
    cheers!

Try searching the forum for similar threads. I found the one below just by looking at the list of similar thread at the bottom of this page.

Personally, I would abort the upgrade and do a clean install.. See Brinks tutorial on how to do this from an upgrade disc -=> Here

    Welcome to Seven Forums.

An upgrade installation can take a long time to process all the programs and files, even up to 20 hours.

Let it sit, unless you want to do a custom install.

So I ended up aborting it after about 28 hours...
And did a clean install. All is fine.
    Thanks all..

    Your welcome.

Upgrade can be a good way to install, but sometimes it will hang.

Glad the clean install worked for you.

Enjoy Windows 7, and let us know if you have any questions.
