    Problem with boot

    Hi all

I am having trouble with my Windows 7 Home Premium edition.

After having installed it and starting it up for the first time it wont go further than the "logo" screen.

The only thing i have done is to install the Radeon 4800 series drivers..

There is no error codes or anything and i am running out of possible reasons.

My system was running perfectly with the RC candidate. The first time i even removed my second 4890 and it didn't help anything.

Please someone know what to do. Could it be a corrupted disc i have recieved from amazon?

edit: It will start up in safemode!

Oh! Boot up in safe mode, uninstall the Radeon 4800 drivers, and go from there.

Okay.. But i dont see how that would solve the problem?

The 4800 drivers need to be installed anyways?

No, they don't. You will see. Windows will automatically find drivers for it. They just might not be the very latest.

I had the same problem, except I have a Radeon 4870 X2. I would get into Windows 7, but then as soon as the Catalyst drivers would load it would BSOD on me.

I went into Windows 7 safe mode, disabled the video cards and rebooted.

I was then able to enter Windows 7 in a normal startup, uninstall the ATI Catalyst manager and re-install the new Windows 7 drivers (dated 22OCT2009 I think on ATI's website).

Rebooted and it works fine for me now.

Please note, my video card (Radeon 4870 X2) IS on the supported hardware list on Microsofts website... not sure if this has anything to do with my success on this machine, since my other machine is not having the success that this one did... and I think it's due to lack of hardware support on Windows 7.
