Error:0x80300024 Windows is unable to install to the selected location

    Hi there all,

I was given a PC to reinstall W7 on yesterday and I have had numerous problems.
At first it wouldn't let me delete any partitions on the "Where do you want to install Windows" set up screen.

I managed to erase one of their partitions and selected to install on to it, it goes to the next stage but as soon as it gets to 0% installing Windows after 'copying files' I got an error code:
    0x80070002

So I completely formatted the HDD using Active Kill Disk which took around 6 hours, I go to install it again which now shows as "Disk 0 Unallocated Space" but as soon as I click on "next" it gives me this message:

"Windows is unable to install to the selected location. Error:0x80300024"

After a fair bit of research I've seen a number of people suggesting that it could be down to another SATA hard drive or SATA device connected but there are no other devices connected apart from the main hard drive and an IDE DVD drive.

The computer was working fine before with Windows 7 already installed on it, my customer just wanted it refreshed.

Does anyone have any ideas what it could be, could it be that the hard drive is faulty? Active Kill Disk usually picks up on these things but it ran through its process OK.

I really want to be able to do this for my customer and any help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
