How do i do that? Is that when you go to the devices page and click one then click update driver? I did that for my webcam and mic and some other stuff but it said they were up to date. Thats whats confusing me, they are there, but i cant make them work.

I saw in my program files the documents for my launch manger and all the files are empty, and in my windows.old file my launch manager folder is full of stuff, i tried moving it over and using the application file and it asked if i wanted to continue, but nothing happened after that.

You willl have to use the Acer apps disk to install your launch manager, but I'd hold off and try to do without it. What does it give you that you really need right now. We can possibly help you work around it.

As far as your webcam, you need a software package in addition to the driver. Google the model of your webcam or post it back here and you will find a downloads page on the manufacturer's website where you can download the software for that model, put it in your Downloads folder for permanent keeping, and run it to set up your webcam.

Likewise, you may be missing Adobe reader and flashplayer which are easily downloaded from Adobe website by googling. Java runtime is also normally on the apps disk but can be gotten by googling easily, too.

The only other thing is if you need your Works, whether you can pluck it off the apps disk (doubtful) or borrow it from a friend, or perhaps you use Office. Java has a free OpenOffice app that is just as good.

Let us know if there are any other apps you need as some of us are clean install guys and have years of experience avoiding bloatware.

I really dont want to use the acer disk, what i havnt yet told you is that after i reinstalled windows 7, i used the acer disk cause i saw those things were missing, and it broke again! I dont know why, i think it froze on an application with AMD in the title, which is my processor. Luckily there was a system restore point on the windows 7 disk that i used and got it back again.

I will try and find the stuff online, i dont need these things, but it is nice to have them anyway. I would want my volume to show up on screen when i alter it, i have seen a folder in my program files with all the images of my volume going up/down/mute etc.

Im not sure what model my webcam is actually, but it does say on my laptop "crystal eye" next to it if thats any good. I looked through my manual and again thats all it says.

Did you check the downloads page for your Acer model for the driver software for these? That is a good way to bypass the apps disk to get specific driver software.

Look in the Device Manager for exactly how it lists that webcam and your sound chip. Google those and get the software packages which accompany the driver, so you will have the viewer/apps for the webcam, and extra sound controls you might want. With just the sound driver, you should have the standard windows volume control in your bottom-right systray.

I downloaded webcam software, ran the setup and nothing seems to have changed? It was exactly how it was listed in the devices section. How can i get them to work, with a button to open it with.

It only added the webcam software as you had the driver. Did you actually run the Setup File and follow each step in case there were prompts? If not, it might have just unzipped the file and need to have Setup run from its download location.

Look for it in Programs list to see if it is already installed, then in the Program File for it's name, try running setup again.

Finally, in Control Panel>Programs and Features: Try uninstalling it, restart and then reinstall according to the exact instructions in the file's Read Me. Sometimes USB webcams (like printers) need to be kept unplugged until prompted.
