Weird error preventing windows installation (0x80300024)

So I'm trying to do a clean install of Win 7 on my Samsung 840 SSD. Initial installation about a year ago went fine. Now when I go into the setup of the install disc it gives me error 0x80300024. I've looked around and have found various solutions, none of which seem related to each other (fixing the MRB, removing other drives, etc). I'm worried about formatting the drive because I don't want to do it only to have it give me the same error (I don't have a back up drive with an OS).

Other info that may be important:
I have 4 HDDs on this PC
2 are 1TB platter drives
1 is a 3TB platter drive (just a back up for the other 3 drives)
Main drive is a 250GB SSD

The thing I find odd is that my disk manager shows the 3TB drive (G: ) as disk 0.
It shows the SSD as disk 1 (C: ).
The SSD has the typical 100MB system partition and then the rest of the drive is reserved for the OS and whatever else I put on it. So upon setup it should I'm installing on disk 1, partition 2.

I could try bootsec /fixmbr but this isn't something I've ever done before so it makes me a bit anxious. I suppose I could temporarily pull the 3TB drive to see if the SSD reverts to disk 0, but I don't know if that'll make any difference. Any help would be much appreciated

Finally figured this out. Well sort of...

Disconnecting all of the drives with the main drive is SATA port 1 gave me a different error. It was telling me there wasn't enough space to install the OS. This is obviously nonsense as there was 163GB of free space on a 250GB drive and it was the only drive listed.

I had an old 64GB SSD that wasn't connected to the PC but had an old copy of Windows on it. I hooked it up on a PCI RAID controller (I was out of SATA connections on my MOBO). Changed the boot priority in BIOS to boot from this drive. Everything seemed to go smoothly so I tried the installation again and it went through with no hesitation. I still have no idea how or why this worked, but it did and I guess that's all that matters.

The forums have a tutorial for doing a Clean Reinstall Windows 7 for Factory OEM like Samsung, which has been used by over a million consumers without a single complaint. If you stick with the tools and methods given, you'll have a perfect install for as long as you do.
