Windows 7 tells me I have to uninstall some Kaspersky

When I try to install Windows 7 and it checks for compatibility, it keeps telling me that I have to uninstall this Kaspersky Antivirus program, but I don't have it on my drive. Wherever I search for this supposed program, it doesn't show up, so I can't install my Windows 7 because it says I have to uninstall this first! HELP!!!!

What AV do you have on your drive?

Apparently the compatibility checker for the upgrade has found irrelevant traces of an old Kaspersky AV installation. (It could even have been part of the crapware from a commercial PC installation.)

It could be something as simple as a folder in Programs.

There may also be a cleanup tool available from Kaspersky, but I've read that it did not work.

If all esle fails, do a custom (clean) install of Win7. Any remnants of incompatible software won't matter, as they won't be carried over. (Of couse, none of your still-installed software would be carried over either.)
