Home Premium installation in alternate language

On my recent birthday I recived a vendor full version of win 7 Home Premium in German (I live in Germany). Can I install this in english versus the default German?

    Thanks in advance!

    Welcome to the forums Hock
No. To change the language you have to install a language pack and they are only available for Win 7 Ultimate and Enterprise. Oficial MS statement here.
    Sorry...

Thanks for the quick reply! Someone a German friend of mine, told me that when he was installing his German version it prompted him for a language and keyboard setup. He said english was one of the available options in the pull down menu. Any idea what this could be for?

    Thanks Again!

Hock, all versions have that. You can check the one you are using today by going to Control Panel, Regional and Language Options. That allows you to change the format of dates and numbers, and also the keyboard layout (to use accents for example: é; á; õ etc). In short, it changes what language you are inputting data, but all menus etc will be in German. I am speaking from my experience with XP (I had one version in Portuguese and one in English). From the info from MS I believe it is the same situation with Win7

    You can try this
(Mods -- If this is not allowed please remove the post - but all downloads are legal -- so I suppose this is no different from other "hacks" provided the software is legally downloaded).

hi, i am not sure about the german language if you can change it to english and what jimbo45 posted is 100% true, i acknowledge it because it works for me big time! just visit his link and there's a guide there for you waiting but just try it if you can make it to be an english. What i did before was english to arabic and it was windows 7 home premium english pre-installed on the hp pavilion dv7 series laptop. I don't know the exact model so just that's the name.
