My apologies. I should have shown more patience. I understand you are trying to learn which is exactly who we like to work with. You were getting advice from all directions about many aspects of this drive change and doing an admirable job in processing the information and keeping up.

Upon review I feel I didn't make it clear enough that the boot times for the SSD were really a deal killer. This might have refocused the help on solving the boot time for which there are standard steps we've used for years here that always work. I was trying to press those steps in competition with others helping with other things, yet you kept up quite well even then.

I am not an expert on SSD alignment which is why I deferred to Wolfgang on it, so I don't know why you'd fault me for doing that. We are specialists here, and some are the best in the field.

You are the first in 50,000 I've helped here to say I'm not a good teacher, so I want to learn from that and will try to improve. With a reply asking for more help every few minutes I can become short so I may need to slow down to give each thread better help.

Greg`s advice on using the clean command was correct to wipe any code from the hard drive, but you were already told about that before anyway. Post # 51

What Wolfgang and I recommend now is using PW to create your partitions on the hard drive.

Partition the hard drive how you want, then give us a new shot of DM when you can :)

It was much to my surprise that you made the post#170 (since edited). Because even though I thought the drive wipe would have been easier for me using other method I did it your way, or at least think I did. I thought I would get a finally, or about time comment, instead you went on a rant, prompting my post #171.

I did ask for step by step directions. Remember the very computer I am trying to fix is the one I'm using. I came here seeking help, and you have given your time without charging anything. I thank you for that.

As far as the comment I made about the helpful tutorial you posted from whs, I knew my numbers were good. Because I must have read the tutorial 50 times before even trying it. I thought, since you posted the tutorial, you knew what was in it. Just goes to show, we can't know everything.

I didn't come here to argue or debate. When changing things on my computer, I just like to know why changes are suggested and what happens when I make them. I should have never did what I did (cloning). I should have came here 1st.

Anyway, let's kiss and make up. lol

I now have a clean HDD to work with, so on to partitioning it and switching things from SSD to it. And, figure out how to use the HDD as the go to for downloads of new data.

Hi all, been away for awhile couldn't be helped. Anyway, I have accomplished most of what I wanted. I want to thank all who participated in this thread and all who made tutorials that were used. I have to still move data from SSD to HDD, when I can. Posting a snip of how things are now, and marking this thread solved. Once again thank you to all who have helped. Marking this thread solved.
