Windows 7: HP Pavilion dv1000 SE Laptop Upgrade to Win 7 from XP w/SP3 ??

Windows 10 Pro x64

On a CPU that slow, with that video chipset, the difference between PC2700 and PC3200 RAM won't really matter unless you're gaming. Which other than web-based and older DOS and Windows games, you wouldn't be doing anyway I would guess. Go with the largest amount of whatever's cheapest that your laptop will support, and you'll be fine.

As to the video adapter, there was a thread on SF back in 2010 where some folks got the same video chipset in your laptop working with some very specific downloads and steps. You might find it useful if you test Windows 7.

Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1

PC3200 has a higher bus speed and operating frequency than PC2700. So in other words its faster,But that speed increase is reliant on your processor /MB supported bus speed.

If you have Athlon/Duron use PC2700, For use Celeron/P4 PC3200

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit 7601 Multiprocessor Free Service Pack 1

Cluberti and Midstr8...

I'm still awaiting delivery of the new battery followed by RAM purchase before I follow gregrocker's tutorial for clean reinstall Windows 7. FWIW, off the specs from HP's website, the processor is:

1.73 GHz Intel® Centrino™ Mobile Technology featuring Intel® Pentium® M Processor 740

So I'll purchase PC3200 once the battery arrives.
