Removing C drive with Boot Sectors

Drive C was an old IDE drive with XP on it. I installed and new SATA drive for WIN 7. Win 7 installed and activated just fine. Now I want to remove the Old IDE XP drive from the machine but the boot partition is on the IDE drive. I need to know how to remove the old drive and make the new SATA drive bootable into the Win 7 install on it.

take out the IDE drive then boot from the Windows DVD and run startup repair.

You might need to set the SATA in BIOS to boot first but startup repair fixes just these situations, although it sometimes needs to be run more than once when there are multiple issues.

When running the repair it can not see the OS on the drive and tells me I need to load drivers for the hard drive. What drivers are they talking about?

    SATA controller drivers.

First look at SATA settings in BIOS as they may need to be changed for your new drive. AHCI is recommended. No longer need IDE, even emulation.
